Candle light is usually warm and waves slowly with the random oscillations of the air in the surrounding environment. It should be possible to simulate the effect of a candle with a small electronic circuit that generates random patterns or numbers. Here is a simple such circuit shared by Embedds member.
To create the candle effect you will require two LEDs and a small PIC12F675 microcontroller from Microchip. LEDs can last at least 10 years and provides more intense light with less current than a light bulb! You can control the LED brightness using PWM modulation. Hex files, required to program the PIC microcontroller, are available for download.
